Fans of Kim Kardashian have been left worried after the reality TV star opened up about a recent health scare involving a brain aneurysm.
In the latest episode of The Kardashians Season 7, the 45-year-old SKIMS founder revealed that severe stress in her personal life had begun taking a toll on her physical health. A teaser clip showed Kardashian undergoing an MRI scan, later informing her famous family, “There was a little aneurysm.”
Her sister Kourtney appeared shocked, responding, “Woah!” Kim then explained, “They were like, ‘Just stress.’”
According to the Mayo Clinic, a brain aneurysm occurs when a blood vessel in the brain bulges or swells due to pressure on a weakened area of the vessel wall. While aneurysms are fairly common and often harmless when small, a rupture can cause a dangerous bleed in the brain known as a hemorrhagic stroke.
Common symptoms of a ruptured aneurysm include a sudden severe headache, nausea, vomiting, stiff neck, blurred vision, sensitivity to light, seizures, confusion, or even loss of consciousness.
What Causes a Brain Aneurysm?
Experts from the Cleveland Clinic note that several factors can increase the risk of developing or rupturing a brain aneurysm, with high blood pressure being the most common. Stress is a major contributor to high blood pressure, as emotional strain or intense bursts of anger can make blood push harder against vessel walls.
They also list physical exertion—such as lifting or pushing heavy objects—as another trigger. In Kardashian’s case, emotional stress appears to have been the key factor.
The Cause Behind Kim’s Health Scare
The teaser transitions to earlier footage of Kim in tears over her law exams and later discussing her turbulent divorce from rapper Kanye West.
“I’m happy it’s over,” she says in a confessional. “My ex will be in my life no matter what. We have four kids together.”
Kardashian filed for divorce in 2021, citing irreconcilable differences, after years of public controversy surrounding West’s mental health and erratic behavior. Despite their split being finalized in 2022, Kim has only recently spoken about the emotional toll of their relationship.
In a recent speech, she revealed that she experienced “a little bit of Stockholm syndrome” during her marriage, explaining:
“I always felt bad and wanted to protect him. This was the first time I didn’t feel that responsibility personally.”
She also addressed the challenges of co-parenting, adding:
“People think I can just walk away and never deal with it again — that’s not my reality. It’s a divorce, not a kidnapping. We live in the same area, and he knows where his kids are.”
Kim expressed frustration at false online claims, saying:
“I’ll wake up and see it on Twitter that I’m keeping the kids — it’s just not true.”
Treatment and Outlook
According to the NHS, most small brain aneurysms don’t require treatment, though regular monitoring is recommended to ensure they don’t grow.
In cases where the aneurysm is at risk of bursting — or has already ruptured — surgical procedures may be necessary. These include surgical clipping, which uses a metal clip to stop blood flow to the affected area, or endovascular coiling, where a wire coil is inserted to promote clotting and reduce pressure.
Fortunately, Kim’s aneurysm was reportedl ...
