Trump’s press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, responded to the viral moment where President Donald Trump called a female reporter “Piggy” during a media briefing on Air Force One on Nov. 24

During her Nov. 20 briefing, Leavitt was asked about the incident involving Bloomberg reporter Catherine Lucey, who questioned Trump about the Epstein files. Before she could complete a follow-up question, Trump pointed at her and said, “Quiet. Quiet, Piggy.”

Leavitt Defends Trump’s Comment

Leavitt told reporters that Trump becomes frustrated when he feels the media is spreading “fake news” about him.

She said Trump is “the most transparent president in history,” giving reporters more access than past administrations. According to her, Trump’s direct and blunt style is actually a sign of respect.

“The president is frank, open, and honest to your faces. That’s more respectful than a president who hides or avoids the press,” Leavitt said.

She added that the press should “appreciate the frankness and openness” they receive from Trump on a daily basis.

A White House official previously defended Trump’s “Piggy” remark, claiming the reporter acted “inappropriately and unprofessionally,” though they did not explain how.

Just days later, Trump had another tense exchange—this time with ABC News’ Mary Bruce—during an Oval Office press event with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

The president accused ABC of pushing “fake news,” called the network “crappy,” and suggested its broadcasting license should be reviewed.

He claimed ABC’s coverage of him was “97% negative” and told Bruce:
