TikTok Chef Tini Younger Says 1 of Her Twin Baby Girls Died After Placental Abruption: 'Arya Will Always Be Celebrated'

 

TikTok chef Tineke “Tini” Younger shared heartbreaking news on Wednesday, Nov. 26, revealing that she has lost one of her twin babies.

“This is a post I never imagined I’d have to write after the twins arrived. Sadly, earlier this week, we said goodbye to our precious baby girl Arya (Baby A),” the 24-year-old wrote in a Facebook update.

“We made it to nearly 36 weeks — so close to the finish line, so close to having both girls reach full term — but I experienced a placental abruption and we lost our sweet girl. Her twin sister is doing incredibly well and is breathing on her own,” she continued. “They are both so beautiful, and Arya will forever be celebrated. Her sister will grow up knowing she is a twin and had a beautiful twin sibling. I’ll be stepping away for a bit — unsure for how long — but I promise I’ll return. I love you all,” she added.

The emotional black-and-white photos show Younger and her husband, Antoine Wright Jr., cradling baby Arya with a doctor beside them.

A placental abruption happens when “the placenta partially or completely detaches from the uterine wall before birth, reducing or cutting off the baby’s oxygen and nutrient supply and causing severe bleeding in the mother,” according to Mayo Clinic. This condition can result in growth restrictions, decreased oxygen, preterm delivery, or stillbirth.

Younger had announced her pregnancy back in July.

Her due date landed just before Thanksgiving — a significant holiday for the online cooking creator. In an October interview with PEOPLE, Younger said her twins were “perfect” and shared her plan to stay comfortable during the holiday rush. “I’m just going to bring a chair with me,” she joked, explaining how she’d manage her Thanksgiving cooking. “I already use a little kitchen stool, but Thanksgiving is my thing. Around the holidays, everyone comes to my page for recipes. I’m going to push through — just sit in my chair and keep going.”
